These garden turtles are handmade in my home studio using premium ceramic slip and a ceramic mold. The turtles are first made into greenware where they are cleaned and prepped to be fired in the kiln. Once fired and cooled the turtles are bisque ware and cleaned once more. After smoothing the turtles they are ready to paint. Each turtle is hand painted in a base coat, dry-brushed and finished with faces receiving fine detail work. Once painted they are sprayed with a clear varnish to protect their vibrant colors from the weather.
